Jana Seitz: What does a show caller or event director actually do?
My job as show caller of the ‘impulsgeber events’ event was to effectively stage the “show”. In a virtual event, where the focus of the participant is only on the screen, this is even more important than at an in-person event.
And as always with events, the main challenge is that only a minimum of rehearsal time is available. Staging decisions, for which theatre directors usually have several weeks, have to be made at short notice. This requires not only a great sense of timing, but also the ability to concentrate and precision. This is where my experience in musical theatre came in handy.
