Montenegro, and especially the Bay of Kotor, has experienced a real hype among MICE planners in recent years. Why? Likely because of the unique combination of mountains & sea and luxury & tradition. Even on the approach to Tivat Airport, the view of the mountain massifs rising hundreds of meters directly from the coast is breathtaking. And nestled between them: beautiful bays with small houses and the medieval town of Kotor.
Even after landing, the impression remains: in Montenegro, opposites attract. Alongside numerous sleepy settlements and the historic town of Kotor, several coastal villages have been transformed by investors into luxurious destinations featuring designer boutiques, 5-star hotels, and pale stone promenades. In the harbors, yachts line the docks.
Just half an hour and a gondola ride on the “Kotor Cable Car” later, you find yourself in a completely different atmosphere. From the surrounding peaks, a new perspective of the bay unfolds, and with Jeep, buggy, quad, or mountain bike tours, every action lover will find their thrill. Or how about a zipline ride overlooking the Bay of Kotor? At the latest by the time you’re on a speedboat tour – a popular mode of transport between the villages – both the adrenaline junkie and the luxury lover will be in their element.

Back to business – what else does Montenegro offer event planners besides luxury, action, and history?
Culinary-wise, event programs love to pair the international flair of coastal restaurants with the traditional cuisine of the mountains – a truly fantastic combination! This ensures that authenticity is preserved alongside the gourmet experience.
Montenegro also scores high when it comes to drinks. The climate of the bay provides the perfect soil for various grape varieties, and the local wine is impressive. How about hosting an event directly at a vineyard, for example?
For teambuilding, there are numerous possibilities, many of them CSR-oriented: from planting olive trees and helping with the harvest to assisting in the restoration of an old monastery (where you can also host a gala dinner), or even making soap and preserving vegetables—the options are endless. And isn’t a Rakija tasting a form of teambuilding too?
At the same time, well-deserved relaxation is never far away! The three bays offer numerous excellent hotels, especially in the 5-star segment. Many feature spa areas and smaller meeting facilities—The Regent, The Chedi, Lazure, and SIRO, to name just a few. The only drawback: prices can be very high during peak season. Well… a little bit “Norwegian” after all.
