Inquired with our partners: Urs Rudin – a sand painter in his home office

Lena: Since taking part in the TV show “Die größten Schweizer Talente”, in which you reached the final with your sand painting, you have had numerous appearances at the most diverse events and in numerous shows and variety theatres at home and abroad. Can you briefly describe what distinguishes your show and sets you apart from other sand painters?

Urs: What is special about my sand painting is that I composed and produced the music for it myself, which is probably unique worldwide. This allows me to achieve an exact match between music and image, which fascinates my audience at my live shows, but also people who view my artworks as streamed time-lapse videos.

Lena: The success story was abruptly interrupted by Corona. But you didn’t bury your head in the sand, you looked for new forms to reach people with your art. Could you describe your idea?

Urs: A passion of mine has always been the creation of portraits and caricatures. Many clients have booked me for this, e.g. for their trade fair appearances. The guest sits down in front of the “sand table” and in a good 5 minutes his portrait is ready. And all the other guests can follow the creation of the portrait live on the TV screen or on the big screen! A portrait as a picture or film can of course also be made at home from a photo. The versatility of these portraits can be seen in your Christmas greeting, which your graphic designer Franzi created with my video templates.

Lena: Together we thought about how your art objects from the “home office” could be used in the context of virtual events. Would you like to describe a few possibilities that we worked out here?

Urs: Of course I would love to! I am pleased that atlantik network sees so many possible applications for my art. From experience I can say that my portraits can be used to impressively announce winners at an award ceremony. But also at anniversaries and site openings, for example, an entire company history or the development process of a building can be depicted with my art. For this purpose, I deliver pre-produced works of art in time-lapse, paired with my self-composed music, and you at atlantik network provide the corresponding concept for an individual integration into the virtual event format of your customers. But my works can also be integrated perfectly into the digital invitation card you developed. I also like the idea of showing the creation of selected portraits or caricatures at a team event and having the participants guess which person it is. A small competition with a high fun potential among colleagues.
