Hygge Pure: Meetings & Events in Copenhagen – Relaxed and Worthwhile

Recently, I had the pleasure of participating in a fam trip to Copenhagen, where I got to know the Danish capital and the unique lifestyle of its residents. It didn’t take long for the city to captivate me! I was particularly impressed by how many Danish MICE providers (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, Exhibitions) and service providers focus on sustainability – and not just on paper.

Activity Highlights in Copenhagen

During my stay, I had the opportunity to experience some unforgettable activities:

  • City Tour by Bicycle: A must-do in Copenhagen! Even in the rain, cycling in a group is fun. The changeable weather in northern destinations is just part of the experience. It’s even more delightful when the sun shines brightly.
  • Speedboat Tour: The only non-sustainable activity I encountered – but definitely packed with adrenaline!
  • Social Canal Boat Tour: A fantastic way to discover Copenhagen from the water while getting to know fellow travelers. This tour perfectly complements the bike tour and offers a different perspective on the city.

Impressive Meeting and Event Venues

Copenhagen offers a variety of unique locations for meetings and events, each charming and versatile:

  • Mogens Dahl Concert Hall (up to 80 guests)
  • Boathouse Restaurant (up to 220 guests)
  • The Opera – an architectural highlight (up to 700 guests) featuring the gourmet restaurant Almanak
  • Axelborg Hall (up to 400 guests)
  • 25hours Paper Island Hotel (always surprising and cool)
  • Hotel Villa Copenhagen with great event spaces (up to 1,200 guests), a stylish courtyard bar with an afterwork DJ, a fantastic restaurant, and 390 stylish guest rooms.
  • Tivoli, originally known as a tourist attraction, surprises with wonderful restaurants and event venues.
  • We also visited a special meeting location just outside the city towards the airport: the Huone Meeting Center – featuring exceptional themed meeting rooms with a creative and innovative concept.

Culinary Delights

My foodie heart soared in Copenhagen! The city boasts a fantastic cuisine based on fresh ingredients. Whether it’s classic Smørrebrød or delicious Danish cinnamon rolls (Kanelsnegle) – everything was simply delicious.

I was particularly impressed by the Brasserie in the Nimb Hotel, the Kilden I Haven (Green & Sustainable Kitchen), and the Brasserie Kontrast in the Villa Copenhagen.

Show and Entertainment

A surprise was the visit to Cabaret Wallmans. The venue might seem a bit old-school, but the highly professional show and the nightclub party on weekends provide a party location for up to 800 guests, complete with entertainment.

Architecture & Design – A Feast for the Eyes

Copenhagen is filled with wonderful architecture and interior design at every turn – I love it!

Hotels – Comfort Meets Event Opportunities

The city offers many beautiful hotels with excellent event facilities. Notably, the Marriott Hotel is located right by the water, featuring meeting rooms for large groups and a unique attraction: ice bathing directly at the hotel dock, complete with a sauna – an extremely popular experience in Copenhagen. Those who can afford luxury should definitely plan for the Villa Copenhagen – it’s worth it!

Price Level – Surprisingly Fair

I expected the prices to be worse. For the excellent quality, especially in upscale restaurants, you pay only slightly more than in Germany. Of course, Copenhagen remains a somewhat more expensive city, but a trip is particularly worthwhile outside the tourist high season. By the way, I was surprised by the flight prices, as the direct flight from Munich is significantly cheaper than to most southern capitals.

What Fascinated Me Most About Copenhagen

The people! Good-natured, relaxed, and with a “It’ll work out somehow” mentality – always with a professional outcome. It seems that everyone knows each other in the industry, and even though there are many competitors, they all share the same goal: to impress the guests of Copenhagen. If it’s not their own hotel, they promote a competitor’s hotel instead. Many in Germany could take a lesson from this!

Copenhagen impressed me in many ways, and I am sure you will also be captivated by the Danish capital and its unique charm. Whether for meetings, events, or a personal visit – Copenhagen is always worth the trip!
